Urban Meyer Era

Florida’s Loss, Our Gain

Urban Meyer was the head coach at Florida, known as the Gators, long before he was officially named the Buckeyes head coach in 2012.  It came abruptly when the Gators were seemingly untouchable on the field.  Then, all of a sudden, they were hit with a shock that no one saw coming; Meyer resigned in 2010.

Becoming a Buckeye

Urban Meyer is currently entering his 7th season as head coach of The Ohio State Buckeyes.  He has had one heck of a ride already in the buckeye state.  His record through his first six seasons is 73-8, not too bad for a coach stepping into a program formerly ran by the great Jim Tressel. Meyer brought his Buckeyes to a National Championship game in 2014 and came out a winner, won the first CFP, College Football Playoff, in 2017, as well as winning 6 consecutive Big Ten conference divisional titles.

The Rivalry

Meyer has been in the midst of what could be considered the biggest rivalry in college football for as long as anyone can remember.  He has stacked the Buckeyes roster with numerous top-five picks that are nationally ranked, and in the meantime, he has stacked their trophy case at the same time.  One of the memories he has from beating that team up north is when they blasted Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond over the speakers after the win, clinching them a playoff berth yet again.
